The day that has become one of my favorites (albeit somewhat stressful) from a sportswriting perspective is all but upon us.
The Newport Daily News 3-Point Shootout is Saturday night at 7 at Salve Regina University.
It should be an interesting competition, as it has been in its previous two years. This year's competitors are:
Boys
Rogers: Trevor Morgera, Cody Platt
Middletown: Matt Kendall, Bowen Leys
Portsmouth: Pat Fagan, Ryan DeLuca
Tiverton: Alex Rosa, Tyler Mulcahy
St. George’s: Josh Fuhrmeister, Kelly Bullock
Portsmouth Abbey: Chuck Weeden, Matt Brigham
Girls
Rogers: Annie Galvin, Sienna Benson
Middletown: Kacey Challoner, Lauren Paiva
Portsmouth: Megan Sewall, DonAndrea Myette
Tiverton: Sam William, Haley Higginbottom
St. George’s: Jordan Watson, Laura Lowry
Portsmouth Abbey: Kathleen Timmons, Abby Shea
Scott Barrett and I have our predictions about who will win, but we'll keep those quite at least until after the competition.
But I'm curious who others like to win this thing. Objectivity is not necessary. Feel free to put your support behind a friend or teammate or your kid's friend or teammate.
