A break for more football

Instead of continuing to argue about football stuff from two seasons ago, why not something more current that also, sort of, has to do with the Patriots?
What are the odds Josh McDaniels' days with the Pats are not over? This whole Jay Cutler feud has me wondering if he'll be fired before he ever coaches a game in Denver. Star quarterback vs. unproven rookie head coach. Who do you think wins that argument?

He orchestrated the greatest offense in the history of the league. Jay Cutler is a first-round draft pick that hasn't led his team to the playoffs once. QB goes before the coach (especially while the QB still has some value). And when he signs a big deal with another team, I hope he buys some tissues, that baby.

Has a coach ever been fired before a season started before?

Wrong again, my friend. There's no way the Broncos side with McDaniels over Cutler. If this doesn't get resolved soon, McDaniels gets the axe and crawls back to New England with his tail between his legs.

If you recall, offense was not Denver's problem last season. And disciples of Bill Belichick don't exactly have a great track record as head coaches. And neither, for that matter, do ridiculously young coaches in recent years. Think Kiffin and Mangini.

Hmmmm ... Gregg Williams should have been! HA!

The same Mangini that went 10-6 in his first year and to the playoffs? That Mangini? Are you bringing facts to the table or slanted opinions?

I swear a coach has been fired without coaching a game before, but my intense 30-second internet search revealed no results.
Maybe I'm thinking of St. Bill taking the Jets job and quitting two days later.

Yeah, quitting doesn't count (that happens a lot).
Thanks for reminding me about Gregg Williams. I wish I could have those years back!

You're sticking up for Mangini now? Yeah, he went 10-6 his first year, for the same reason Charlie Weis went 9-3 in his first year at Notre Dame. The previous coach did a decent job putting a team together and was unjustly fired. New guy comes in, with all the ex-coach's players, and wins. Once he has control over personnel, things go south.
Sound familiar?

Nick Saban.

Thanks for helping my argument.

This guy breeds success.

Eight individuals who served as assistant coaches under Belichick are now head coaches in the NFL or in college: Kirk Ferentz (Iowa), Al Groh (Virginia), Pat Hill (Fresno State), Eric Mangini (Cleveland Browns), Josh McDaniels (Denver Broncos), Nick Saban (Alabama), Jim Schwartz (Detroit Lions) and Charlie Weis (Notre Dame).

Additionally, five current NFL general managers were previously employed by Belichick: Thomas Dimitroff (Atlanta), George Kokinis (Cleveland), Ozzie Newsome (Baltimore), Scott Pioli (Kansas City) and Mike Tannenbaum (New York Jets).

Nick Saban, who coached Bama to the SEC title game and led LSU to the national title?

Go Badgers.

GMs who worked FOR Belichick? I can't wait until the Patriots fall, Belichick gets fired and mental hospitals are overrun with you delusional Pats fans.

Once again, I regret discussing football with you.

If you don't want to go back to basketball, the local news is on .. we could debate the finer points of the stimulus package ...
