Georgia is still beating Xavier. Really tells you something about the A-10, doesn't it? How badly would URI have lost in the NCAA tournament if they hadn't lost 8 of their last nine games and finished the season with a loss in the first round of the NIT?

I believe that really answers your question .... "lost in the first round of the NIT."
PC, on the other hand, might have been able to compete in the NCAA. Of course, it would depend on many things. Would Weyinmi Efejuku have one of his 20-point games, or one of his 3-point games? Would Tim Welsh take him out after he scored 10 straight?
Ugh, it's painful to think about all of the Friars' shortcomings that I witnessed far too often this season. Suffice it to say, I'm not sad Welsh got axed.
Calling Jim Larranaga, a PC grad ... of course after George Mason loses to Notre Dame today.
I'd be cool with that hire. Post-game interviews would be a lot more interesting than Welsh's "Well, you know, (fill in the blank) is a great basketball team and, in this league, you've got to come out and play hard every night or you're going to lose."
I hate when I pick with my heart and not my head ... my heart told me to pick Georgia!
When potential huge upsets happen in the 1st round, it gets me excited to see that I'm one of few people who picked Purdue to go to the sweet 16. Now granted, Purdue could stumble to Baylor, but if it all plays out in my favor, then go mediocre Big 10 basketball!!!
